Plant Power Short-Lived: Climate Models Underestimate Carbon Cycling
Plants take up more carbon dioxide than previously thought, but store it for less time, according to a new study from Imperial College London. This finding challenges existing climate models and suggests limited potential for nature-based solutions like mass tree planting to combat climate change. Researchers used radiocarbon from nuclear bomb tests to track carbon movement and found plants cycle carbon faster than models predict. The study highlights the need for improved climate models and a focus on reducing fossil fuel emissions. (See More)
