A new way to measure aging and disease risk with the protein aggregation clock

Scientists at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz propose a new way to measure aging and disease risk: a "protein aggregation clock." As we age, proteins clump together forming aggregates, especially in long-lived cells. These aggregates are linked to many age-related diseases. By measuring the amount of protein aggregation, this clock could identify people at higher risk of disease and allow for earlier intervention or preventative treatments. This protein clock would complement existing methods and could be a valuable tool for promoting healthy aging. (See More)

The results lead to doubts about the belief that these products were first used much later in the Pyrenean mountain range. (See More)
